Autumn Equinox, also known as Qiu Fen 秋分, the 16th seasonal node of the year, is one of the year's two true balance points, day and night in equal measure, before the scale tips fully toward the Yin side of the year. In East Asian Medicine, this moment belongs to the Metal element, closely connected to our Lungs and Large Intestine, to breath, and to what we hold onto and what we're ready to release. The Harvest Moon, the full moon nearest this equinox, has marked this same turning point across earth-based traditions for generations.

This is also autumn's oldest art - the art of letting go. Metal asks us to choose, consciously, what we carry forward as Yin receives the exuberant Yang of the year, and what we lay down before the dark half begins. We'll gather to feel that shift together, the organs asking for our attention as autumn deepens, seasonal remedies worth keeping close at hand, and acupressure and qigong practice suited to this Metal Autumnal realm, breath work that mirrors the Lung's own rhythm of taking in and letting go.
